After many years of nagging by Wendy, I finally bit the bullet and uploaded my book manuscript to Amazon KDP. My first book “Walking with the Disciples” is now available on Kindle and Paperback through the Amazon website.
I developed the book from my preaching manuscripts of the series of the same name I preached a couple of years ago,
It’s an odd feeling of excitement and anxiety. Excited to be an author, hopeful that people will actually buy the book, hoping against hope that it might even bring in some income for us as we struggle through life. But terrified it won’t be well received, what if people hate it? What if they trash it in the comments?
We all go through times like about all sorts of situations, excited and hopeful, yet aware that we are vulnerable and anxious about that. It is at those times, we must draw comfort from our faith, from the knowledge that whatever people of us, Jesus is FOR us.
Two quotes to help, one is from the Jewish conservative Denis Prager who says, “praise will go to your head and criticism will go to your heart if you let it”. I don’t remember the source of the other, but is says much the same thing “if you live by people’s praise, you will die by their criticism”.
The Bible says things like, “if God is for us, who can be against us” (Romans 8:31), “do not pay attention to everything people say” (Proverbs 7:21), it says our peace is not found in the praise of others, but in Jesus.
